Dynamics of a plant-herbivore model with a chemically-mediated numerical response

چکیده

A system of two ordinary differential equations is proposed to model chemically-mediated interactions between plants and herbivores by incorporating a toxin-modifiednumerical response. This numerical response accounts for the reduction in her-bivore's growth reproduction due chemical defenses from plants. It shownthat exhibits very rich dynamics including saddle-node bifurcations, Hopfbifurcations, homoclinic bifurcations co-dimension 2 bifurcations. Numerical sim-ulations are presented illustrate occurrence multitype bistability, limit cycles, homoclinic orbits heteroclinic orbits. We also discuss ecological implicationsof resulting dynamics.

Dynamics of a plant-herbivore model.

We formulate a simple host-parasite type model to study the interaction of certain plants and herbivores. Our two-dimensional discrete-time model utilizes leaf and herbivore biomass as state variables. The parameter space consists of the growth rate of the host population and a parameter describing the damage inflicted by herbivores. We present insightful bifurcation diagrams in that parameter ...

Global Dynamics of a Plant-Herbivore Model with Toxin-Determined Functional Response

Studies of the dynamics of plant-herbivore interactions that explicitly address model robustness are important in assessing uncertainty. Hence, identifying conditions that guarantee the global stability of plant-herbivore systems can be used to assess the rationale involved in, for example, the selection of management and/or control decisions. The model used here to illustrate these issues is n...

Dynamics of a plant-herbivore model with toxin-induced functional response.

Traditional functional responses for plant-herbivore interactions do not take into account explicitly the effect of plant toxin. However, considerable evidence suggests that toxins set upper limits on food intake for many species of herbivorous vertebrates. In this paper, a mathematical model for plant-herbivore interactions mediated by toxin-determined functional response is studied. The model...

Dynamics of a plant-herbivore-predator system with plant-toxicity.

A system of ordinary differential equations is considered that models the interactions of two plant species populations, an herbivore population, and a predator population. We use a toxin-determined functional response to describe the interactions between plant species and herbivores and use a Holling Type II functional response to model the interactions between herbivores and predators. In ord...
